Sustainable and Resilient Buildings

Decarbonisation plans across every sector are in motion, and with this buildings must adhere to more energy-efficient processes and implement renewable energy sources to reduce their environmental impact. According to the United Nations Environment Programme 2022 report, the buildings and construction sector accounted for more than 34% of energy demand globally.

As energy efficiency becomes a greater focus, future-proofing your commercial building with renewable energy systems will be fundamental. Sayes can support you on your net zero journey by designing and installing efficient mechanical building systems powered by renewable sources to drive sustainability across your building portfolio.

Our advisors are on hand to guide you on which renewable energy systems suit your building and requirements.

Environmental Regulations Impacting Building Systems

Future Homes Standard (FHS)

In 2025, compliance with the Future Homes Standard will become mandatory. The regulation aims to ensure that new homes built from 2025 will produce 75-80% less carbon emissions than those built under current building regulations. Sayes & Co Ltd can advise you on building systems that will prioritise efficiency and align with this regulation, such as air source heat pumps.

F Gas Regulations (EU)

The new F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573 came into effect in March 2024, and looks to phase out fluorinated greenhouse gases used across air conditioning, refrigeration, and heat pumps. Whilst it is an EU legislation, there is a possibility it will be applied in the UK – and we can support businesses on this transition.

Installing the Building Systems of Tomorrow

As the industry evolves, so do we. Sayes is here to support your transition to low carbon heating systems, with high-quality installations from approved partners of leading manufacturers.

Installing renewable energy systems can help to reduce daily operating costs and support your sustainability goals.

To establish how we can support your business, we will first begin by assessing your site. From there, our in-house designers will curate 3D model drawings of the proposed renewable system installation. Once a quote is agreed upon, our certified engineers will begin the expert installation of your chosen renewable energy system.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air-source heat pumps extract the heat in the air and boost it to a higher temperature through pressurisation. The compressed hot liquid created in this process is then passed into a heat exchanger and heats water for both radiator heating circuits and taps. Due to the alternative way of sourcing heat, heat pumps are 3 to 4 times more efficient than a gas boiler.

Air source heat pumps can be applied across existing premises or new constructions including modular builds and can help in significantly reducing heating costs and the associated carbon footprint.

Alternative Renewable Energy Systems

Biomass

Sayes is equipped with the unique skillset to install large-scale biomass boilers in your commercial or industrial facility. We have the capacity to install biomass boilers of all sizes from 15kW to 1MW, to propel your renewable journey.

Heating Planned Preventative Maintenance

Proactive, Planned, and Emergency Maintenance

Similar to traditional heating systems, renewable energy systems require professional maintenance at least once a year, and possibly a higher frequency for those high usage premises. Our specialist engineers here at Sayes Service Ltd will determine a planned preventative maintenance schedule that is appropriate for your systems, based on a thorough site visit or post-installation. This schedule will assess the integrity of your renewable building system and enable you to take a proactive approach to asset management.

On the flip side, when the worst happens and you are facing a breakdown or failure of your renewable heating system, Sayes Service Ltd will respond immediately to ensure the safety of your property.
