Project Description

The building is a sheltered housing complex comprising of 46 flats all with elderly and vulnerable tenants. Through carrying out routine maintenance and reactive repairs it was identified that the existing plant was in extremely poor condition and inefficient.

Our engineers modified the tank supply to the Plant Room to convert it to mains. The new DHW water heaters were positioned and the new mains cold water supply connected to each complete with mains unvented kits. Through careful planning we were able to minimise the down time of hot water to two days and the heating remained on.

Once hot water was re-instated to the building the heating plant was de-commissioned and removed again by a specialist contractor. YHA provided oil filled radiators to all properties for heating while the heating plant was inoperative. The 3 No Broag Quinta Pro boilers were installed and the vast majority of pipe work for the heating system pre-manufactured off site, again with a view to minimising down time of the heating, we were able to minimise down time of the heating to five days. This included the pressurisation of the heating system via the installation of a new expansion vessel and pressurisation unit.
